Memorial Day weekend 2008

What a wonderful memorial day weekend we all had in Rome, Georgia. To let all of those wondering, Leanne is doing fine and Lucas didn't make an unscheduled visit, although he did keep Mommy up a few times. It isn't too much longer until his arrival. How time flies...

Enjoying an outdoor grilled meal....MMMM good.

Enjoying my cookie....
Feeding the many geese and ducks around the lake by Grandma's house.

Fishing with Dad...A couple of nibbles...
Helping Grandma water her plants.
I love to be helpful...future mower and gardener.
New bugs to play with...
Faster Grandpa, faster...
Looking in one of the many birdhouses at a lost blue egg.
Exploring the new surrounding in GA.
During the trip down there, in pj's but wide awake on one of the stops.

We went down to Rome, GA this year to spend the weekend with my folks. This was the first trip for Nicholas down this far south and he did relatively well on the trip there and back with the occasional screams and desire to be out of his seat, but so is the way things go when traveling with a 2 and 3 year old. Mom and Dad really enjoyed spending time with the grandsons and it gave me and Leanne some time to go out to a movie. Yeah!!!!! Zachary really took to Dad and Nicholas attached more to Mom. For anyone who knows my Dad, he has a treasure trove of toys and games which kept the boys entertained for many hours. We ran out of time before Dad could show all of his stuff. Sheesh. What the boys really enjoyed was the rides in the wagon, shooting the slingshot, and shooting Goliath with the nerf cannon, yes a cannon. Zachary got his first taste of fishing and wasn't overly excited since the fish weren't really biting, but there will be more opportunities for that. The weather was great and we got to spend a lot of time outside watching the vast assortment of birds that come to Mom's bird feeders. It was a really nice and relaxing visit and I do wish it could have been longer. Zachary was not happy at all that we had to leave, but so is life. Here are some pictures for everyone to enjoy.

Little look back...take 2...

These boys really do love to be outside and let me tell you, when they don't get to go outside due to bad weather or something, it doesn't take long for the cabin fever to set in. When that happens, watch out because here comes attitude, selective hearing, and the need for time outs. Well enjoy everyone and love to read everyone's comments.
Zachary doesn't use this swing anymore.
When Nicholas didn't like water and Zachary still tormented him. Oh the curse of being the little brother.

Zachary loves to slide, but Nicholas isn't so sure...He nows loves this slide and doesn't need or want assistance.
Nicholas at his first birthday...Love the chocolate cake....

Well I figured out what I needed to do to get some of the older pics up to show. The boys really have grown and are little boys and not babies anymore (although, I know they will always be our baby boys)....

Misc....thoughts, ideas, and happenings

Oh what a day, the sun is shining, the grass is green, and much mischief to get into.
I must explore my vast domain before I am caught.
Look Zachary, a tunnel, let's go in.
I'm such a big boy. Look at me climb.
Have stick, watch me thrash and destroy.....

Just a few things about the boys that we thought were somewhat comical and made us realize that the boys are growing up. Zachary let us know that he had a girlfriend on Wednesday and when we asked him about it on thursday, he said, she doesn't like me anymore, she likes so and so. I told him, hey this is how the world turns. (Ahh...young love????) Also, Zachary showed us a new dance move he learned from someone at daycare with the phrase "Chick a wawa, Chicka wawa". It is pretty fun especially with him moving his groove thing. Hmmm...about Nicholas you ask....Well, he is totally enthralled and somewhat hypnotized by tunnels and so everything now has become a tunnel.

Well today started off as a rainy, cool, and gloomy day, but then turned out to be very nice, so me and boys enjoyed some time outside. The past couple of days had been very rainy, so we were having some cabin fever. Enjoy the pics.

Looking back...

It is amazing how time flys. You blink and your newborn son is 3, he has a brother that is 2 and on the way is number three. It makes ya have to take a step back and realize, you better make the best of the days that God gives you. Speaking of God, He has truly blessed us.
Gotta love that smile. Leanne was and still is such a trooper. That lil bugger caused some excitement.

Well do to some technical difficulties, I wasn't able to put any baby pics of Nicholas at this time. As I was looking back at these pictures and others of all the people in our lives that held Zachary and Nicholas, it is still good to know that many of them are still there helping us out with these boys. God only knows that we couldn't do this on our own, so here's a hats off to all of those that were there then and are still there now helping us to raise these boys.

Now that we have him in the car, What's Next?????? ...And you know what, we are still asking that question.

Zachary was quite the sight to behold. Such a cutie...and then he turned three...Just kidding

Pretty amazing stuff. Zachary at 5lbs and some ounces...

I know it has been awhile since I have done anything on this blog and looking at my sister's blog, I knew I needed to get back in the game. She also gave me a good idea of something to put on here. A look back at the boys when they were smaller and younger and Leanne and myself were even more ignorant about what to expect from these bundles. I thought this would be cool also considering the eminent arrival of our "Final" Lucas Josiah in the next month or so. I say Final because, it is sad but true, there will be a farewell party taking place on June 27th. Not much of a party for some but others, it will bring a sigh of relief.

You might be a hick if....

I will admit that I might be able to answer the question above due to the fact that today, I just almost, yes almost, finished taking down some Christmas lights. The kicker was that what prompted me was I didn't want to have to replace a tree we have that seemed to be having some stress due to all the strands of lights I had on the tree. There were quite a few on it, but hey it did look pretty cool when it was lit. They were all solid small green lights. Hopefully I will be able to completely finish the job before it is time to put them back up. I was getting some honks and comments from drivers going by. The benefits of living on a corner lot. Hopefully, I will set an example for some of the other houses not too far from mine that are in the town next to us called Hamilton, or more affectionately known as "Hamiltucky". Everyone can come to their own conclusions of what kind of folk live in the Hamilton. Disclaimer: We have some wonderful friends that live in Hamilton that defy the mold, but one of them does have the nickname Bubba.

Spring days and young explorers...

We decided to enjoy the beautiful day today and do a little backyard exploring which was fun. Also, got to have Nicholas do some grass walking without his shoes. He's not too big on that. Zachary on the other hand could care less. Well in the backyard, the boys enjoyed "painting" with sticks and puddles of water, looked at bugs and handled them (Zachary decided he needed to kill some slugs...no big loss there), and watched some birds checking out the possiblity of moving into a couple of the bird houses we have. The boys really did enjoy themselves and just proved that you don't need all the fancy gadgets for kids to have fun. All the boys needed were sticks, rocks, and their imagination (very lively imagination at that). Enjoy the pictures.
